This is going to be a fairly long post so I hope you all enjoy it.
This summer I was lucky enough to go on holiday to Rome for a week. Even though I have family from Italy I had never been before so it was very very exciting!
There is so much to do in Rome everyday was packed and we were constantly on the go! There is history down every street and incredible food everywhere!
Our first discovery was the Pantheon which we stumbled across whilst on the hunt for lunch..
The Pantheon is a former Roman temple, which is now used as a church. Luckily when we found it it wasn’t very busy so we were able to go inside. The whole building is incredible from top to bottom! There is intricate detail all over the Pantheon but my favourite bit was the domed ceiling.
Outside the Pantheon the square is packed with tourists and street performers, we even saw an amazing opera singer performing outside. There is a beautiful fountain that I was fully ready to jump into it was so hot! This was the perfect place to chill after a lot of walking around and for a few Instagram opportunities. The boy on the right is my lovely boyfriend and travel buddy Nathan who helped my take the pictures to put this post together.
The best part about Rome was definitely the food! I still have dreams about the pasta I can’t describe to you how incredible it was I wish i could make pasta like it!
We even managed to find the famous Giolitti after getting lost and walking round and round in circles. I heard about Giolitti’s from a few other bloggers like Estee Lalonde and Amelia Liana and it did not disappoint! I had Watermelon, Pineapple and Coconut and it was almost as big as my head.
Whilst we were lost we found so many cute streets full of beautiful buildings and I even made a furry friend. There were also lots of cool shops in Rome that we don’t have in the UK and I had my first Sephora experience! I Picked up a few things and will be doing a post about them very soon.
I really love love animals so we spent a whole day in Rome zoo. It was an absolutely huge zoo and it even had brown bears which are my most favourite animal! I didn’t manage to get the best Photos of the animals but I did snap a few. Rome zoo is probably one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to as it had so many animals I had never seen, the weather was beautiful and it was loads of fun!
Of course we couldn’t go to Rome without going to the Colosseum! We went inside the Colosseum and Palatine Hill both of which were unlike anything I had ever seen! The Colosseum is enormous and almost doesn’t look real. I would definitely recommend going inside it was 100% worth it, we even had dinner just outside with the most amazing view. Palatine Hill also had beautiful gardens and was a really lovely place to spend the day.
We went to see the Trevi Fountain lots of times on our way back to the hotel. It was constantly packed with people and we even saw some proposals and made lots of wishes! Even though its very busy its still a nice place to sit and the fountain is incredible especially at night!
I had an amazing time in Rome and would definitely go again as there are still quite a few things I would like to do there and could definitely go for some more pasta!
